Dosage Form and Strength
Risperdal Consta 50mg (Risperidone) Injection is a prolonged release suspension for injection.
Each vial contains Risperidone B.P (as Extended-Release Microspheres) 50mg.
Mechanism of Action
Risperidone is a second-generation (atypical) antipsychotic. It decreases dopaminergic and serotonergic pathway activity in the brain, reducing symptoms of schizophrenia and mood disorders. It has high binding affinity for serotonergic 5-HT2A receptors relative to dopaminergic D2 receptors.
Administration
- Administer Intramuscularly after reconstitution with the supplied diluent.
- Single-use sterile injection.
- Do not self-medicate.
- Use under medical supervision only.
Therapeutic Use
- Treatment of schizophrenia.
Usage Instructions
- For Intramuscular use only.
- Must be reconstituted with the diluent supplied in the dose pack.
- Do not substitute any components of the dose pack.
