It is a film-coated tablet.
Each film-coated tablet contains Pirfenidone 200mg.

Mechanism of Action:
Pirfenex is in a class of medications called pyridones.
It blocks the action of a natural substance in the body involved in causing fibrosis.
It has both anti-inflammatory and antifibrotic effects.
It inhibits both production and activity of TGF-β, reducing fibrosis and swelling in lungs.
Slows down the buildup of scar tissue in the lung by interfering with the ability of cells to make scar tissue.
May inhibit apoptosis, downregulate ACE receptor expression, reduce inflammation, and protect pneumocytes and other cells from invasion and cytokine storm.
